Christians Against Poverty is an award winning debt counselling
charity with headquarters in Bradford and a growing network of centres
throughout the UK.
Thousands of families nationally have already been released from the pressure
of debt through a combination of advice, financial education, budgeting and insolvency
services, and Longton Community Church
recently became a CAP centre in Preston and
the surrounding areas. In Preston this
work is managed by Longton
Community Church
though other churches are also involved
and have trained money management trainers.
Also based at Longton Community Church is INSIDE OUT -- Projects that Longton Community Church members have participated in include gardening for the elderly, painting the homes of single parents, providing furniture for families living in shabby, run down housing and filling Christmas hampers for those unable to afford a few seasonal luxuries.
Salvation army food parcels: Food Parcels are only available on referral from a recognised agency such as Social Services or a supported housing project, and we usually only have a very limited selection of canned foods available.http://sapreston.synthasite.com/helping-homeless-people.php Each year there is also a Christmas appeal through which packages of toys or food are provided to needy families and individuals.
